Luke Van Wye is a pianist, composer, and bandleader working in jazz and contemporary music. His work focuses on jazz improvisation, arranging and composition, and novel performances for live audiences.

He creates original compositions and reinterprets familiar music, developing themed concert projects - like Snoopy and Standards - that explore musical ideas through a jazz approach. He also shares his work through his “Luke Takes Requests” YouTube Series that expands his creative process while building a personal voice in performance and arrangement.

Luke has performed across many venues in Southern California including, Roscoe’s Jazz Lounge, the Proud Bird Aviation Club, Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in Anahiem, Versai Wine Kitchen and Bar, Anahiem Packing House, The Night Owl cafe, Manhattan Beach Community Church, Grace Baptist Church, as well as at numerous private events.

As an accompanist, Luke has worked with jazz legend Elena Gilliam, Madi Freeman, Samantha Probst, the Inside Voice studio, Fullerton College, and others.

Luke is an in-demand educator, working as a teacher for multiple piano studios such as, Basurto Music and Academics, Kidz Rock, and The Jazz Lab in Yorba Linda. Luke also manages his own private studio, teaching a variety of students, from kindergarteners to retired adults as well as total beginners to professional students.

Luke has studied with internationally renowned pianists and educators including Jeremy Siskind, Tamir Hendelman, John Escreet, Gary Fukushima, Adam Birnbaum, Bill Cunliffe, Bruce Babad, Mike Scott, and others. He earned an Associate of Arts in Music from Fullerton College in 2026. Luke is continuing his education at Cal State Northridge to obtain a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies.

In addition to Luke’s professional and educational experience, he has received recognition and awards, including, the Friends of Jazz Scholarship in 2025, the Mike and Lucy Peak Jazz Scholarship in 2025, Outstanding Soloist at the Workman High School Festival in 2024, Most Outstanding Soloist at Brea Olinda High School in 2024, and Most Outstanding Jazz Musician at Brea Olinda High School in 2023 and 2022.
